As of July 1, Nikhef researcher Wouter Hulsbergen has been appointed as Endowed Professor for ‘Flavour Physics at the LHC’ at VU Amsterdam.
Hulsbergen has distinguished himself as a leading researcher in particle physics, with a focus on understanding the properties and interactions of particles generated in high-energy collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). His significant contributions to the field have been recognized globally, and this appointment is a testament to his dedication and achievements.
Hulsbergen has previously worked on the HERA-B, BaBar, and ATLAS experiments. He is currently involved via Nikhef in the LHCb experiment at CERN, focusing on measurements of matter-antimatter differences and searches for dark matter candidates. Additionally, Hulsbergen is actively involved in teaching and outreach, giving lectures on particle physics and serving on the board of the Olga Igonkina Foundation, which awards scholarships to promising students
This special chair is made possible by VU Amsterdam (Faculty of Science, Department of Physics and Astronomy) and Nikhef.
