Title: "Highlights from Quark Matter 2012: Heavy flavour and Jets"
Abstract:
We will present selected highlights of the Quark Matter 2012 conference. Quark Matter is the most important conference for heavy-ion physics, and this year a large number of new results from the first two LHC heavy-ion runs (2010 and 2011) were shown at the conference. In our presentation we will focus on heavy flavour and jet measurements. Both heavy flavour and high-pt jets are produced by hard-scattering processes early in the collision and they probe the hot and dense (probably deconfined) matter as they traverse the collision zone. We will discuss the impact of the new results on our understanding of this hot quark-gluon matter.
