EGI.org heeft besloten het hoofdkantoor in Amsterdam te vestigen. EGIU.org is de organisatie die de coördinatie van de nationale grid-infrastructuren in Europa moet gaan verzorgen. Het wordt een hoofdkantoor met tussen de 10 en 50 mensen dat gevestigd wordt in Matrix IV op het Science Park Amsterdam. Nikhef heeft samen met andere Science Park-partners en met NCF de winnende bieding uitgebracht. Uit het selectierapport blijkt de reden: "No tax liabilities, financial assistance offered for setup costs. Amsterdam is really the top location concerning international access, Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) is connected to almost all European airports. Even the local access scores very well and even better local transport is planned compared to what is available now. Excellent networking and strongest overall on technical facilities and employment conditions."
