In the US, work is underway on the DUNE neutrino experiment, which will fire neutrinos from Fermilab towards a detector 1,300 kilometres away. Nikhef PhD student Vikas Gupta carried out important groundwork for the gigantic argon-filled detector using the ProtoDUNE prototype at CERN, studied disruptive interactions in the argon and helped build VULCAN, a new test setup for UV studies at Nikhef.
