The university computing collaboration SURF, together with Nikhef, Maastricht University and CERN, is investigating the possibilities of using quantum computers in the LHCb experiment in Geneva. SURF reports this. The partners “will address a number of specific challenges for the experiment to determine which elements in the data analysis chain are best suited for a quantum computing approach.”

Nikhef and Maastricht University previously entered into an agreement with IBM to collaborate on the application of quantum computing for LHCb and also the future Einstein Telescope.
