Experiments with the LHC accelerator have limited energy, while it is clear that there may be unknown particles or forces further away. With effective field theory SMEFT, it is possible to calculate the influences of that particle world beyond the horizon. Nikhef PhD student Andrea Visibile used SMEFT to examine a broad range of data from the ATLAS detector in search of new physics, he explains in this PAPERCLIP video.
