Title: “Sustainability Assessment of Future Large Research Infrastructures”
Abstract:
The Large Particle Physics Laboratory Directors Group (LDG) established the Working Group on the Sustainability Assessment of Future Accelerators (SWG) in 2024, with the mandate to develop guidelines and a list of key parameters for the assessment of the sustainability of future colliders. The development and continuous update of such a framework is intended to enable coherent communication amongst scientists and adequately convey the information to a broader set of stakeholders.
The SWG report will be available in June 2025 at: https://ldg.web.cern.ch/working-groups/sustainability-assessment-of-accelerators. A 10-pages summary of the report was submitted as input to the European Strategy process for particle physics (arXiv:2504.01235). The highlights of the report will be presented to gather feedback for upcoming guidelines on sustainability assessment of large research infrastructures.
