Getting to NIKHEF

You can get to NIKHEF by taxi, public transport and by car (
see also the local guide): A one-page map of the Science Park Amsterdam is available. Please be advised that pick-pocketers are operating in the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam, at the train stations and throughout the city in general. Do not leave your baggage unattended at any time.

Once at the Science Park, make your way to the "colloquium zalen", signposted on the campus. The room is Z0.09 (the smaller room near the flight of stairs). In case of problems, call extension 2179. The NIKHEF reception desk can be reached by phone at +31 (0)20-592 2000.

Maps

For the MWSG: open wireless network access is available: SSID=MWSG7.
For the JSPG: In the room there will be wireless 802.11b available via eduroam (network name "eduroam", note that the SSID is not broadcasted). Or register you mac address (see above) and connect to the NIKHEF-W network (also not broadcast).

From Schiphol Airport

The best way to get from Schiphol to your hotel is by public transport. Underneath the airport and Schiphol Plaza is the train station where trains leave for "Amsterdam Central" station approximately every 10 minutes.
Beware, though, that you must buy your train ticket before you board the train, from the ticket windows in the Plaza or from the vending machines with a Eurocard/Mastercard or pin-enabled Meastro card. You cannot by tickets on the train anymore, and fines are quite expensive (approximately 60 EUR + regular fare). Sorry for this, but public transport quality is degrading in the Netherlands ...
From Amsterdam Central station, take the #9 tram to "Diemen", and get off at the Plantage Middenlaan, close to your hotel.

Coffee and lunches

Coffee can be obtained from the coffee counter on the ground floor. Smoking is prohibited in all rooms and corridors, but a dedicated smoking room is at your disposal on the ground floor next to the coffee point at NIKHEF (other entrance).
A self-service lunch will be provided in room Z0.10, adjacent to the meeting room. On Wednesday, a welcome lunch will be available starting 12:00 hrs. The exact time for the Thursday lunch is still to be determined.

Workshop Dinner

On Wednesday evening you can enjoy Indonesian cuisine, a good and long traditional in the Netherlands, at Desa, an authentic Indonesian restaurant. The menu will be available from Wednesday lunch-time, so that you can make a pre-selection of your favourite dishes.
Please indicate your participation the registration form, and keep in mind that, Amsterdam being in the Netherlands, we'll go Dutch this time ...

If you want to peek at the menu before you leave, this is your change.

Hotels

If you used our block booking: the NH Tropen Hotel is somewhere in the middle between NIKHEF and the city centre. The venue is then easily reachable by tram (#9, direction "Diemen Sniep", get off at "Kruislaan") and a few minutes walking, the city centre (Rembrandt Plein and Dam Square) is about 25 minutes walking or the #9 tram in the other direction ("Centraal Station").
