Setting the counters

The function of the counters has already been described in detail in section 2.1 and 2.4.3.

To set the preset counter values and the counters itself the following steps have to be taken:

1. write the required Transfer Counter preset value into TRANSF_PRESET_REG (range: 0-65536; note that the Transfer Counter can be set to twice the size of the FIFO) and the required Circulate Counter preset value into CIRCUL_PRESET_REG (range: 0-65536).
2. write to WRITE_COUNTERS to load the preset values into the counters; the preset values remain set in their registers; to load the counters anew it is sufficient to write again to WRITE_COUNTERS.

The counters can not be set when run is enabled.
