A search for W bosons in the hadronic decay channel
A possible explanation for the largest deviation from the Standard Model
prediction found at HERA (excess of events with an isolated lepton, a jet
and missing transverse momentum) is anomalous W production. The search
in the hadronic decay channel showed a very good agreement with the SM.
Although the W signal is still overwhelmed by background from usual QCD jet
production, the result of the hadronic channel
at high transverse momenta showed only a 1.7 standard deviations
compatibility with the leptonic channels.
