Take Notice Photos

I used to be in a band when I lived in Amsterdam. The band was called Take Notice, and it existed from sometime in 1993 until sometime in 1996 (I am not sure since I wasn't there for either the end or the beginning). I was in the band from August 1993 until left Amsterdam in February 1995. It all happened mostly by coincidence (Zaphod Beebelbrox was maybe involved). This guy Sidney (see the pictures) and I both used to frequent the Wednesday night Blues Jam at the Bamboo Bar in Amsterdam, and wound up on stage together pretty often. Sid showed up for the jam one night with a couple band members in tow, and asked me to sit in. It turned out they were also looking for a 2nd guitar player. The rest is history.

First we practiced a lot ... started with five songs. Three hours, twice a week, playing the same five songs. All covers. Ouch. Then we started to write our own stuff. Eventually (October 1993) we made a demo. Three originals plus one cover (Nothing Else Matters, Metallica!!) Shot below is yours truly while making said Thing Of Beauty. Not very representative of the band, but it is one of the few pictures of me playing the Strat ...

This picture shows the band (well, not all of us; from left to right me, Mario, Sidney (see above), and Nanette) in the Bourbon Street Cafe in Amsterdam sometime in the summer of 1994.

The next two pictures show first the band, and then a close up of yours truly, while playing at the Patronaat Music Hall in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Taken sometime in the Fall of 1994. In the first picture from left to right are me, Nanette (vocals), Edwin (sax, also a Bamboo Bar blues jam person), Mario (vocals), Pieter (bass), Linda (drums), and Sidney (guitar).

Perhaps more Take Notice fun here later.
