Possible filiation of Philip De Kanter (nr. 1A) | ||||
I. Philips Jacobsz de Kanter (Cantere), born Brugge (B) about 1560, deceased Brugge (according to Ref. [4] ) or Zierikzee (according to Ref. [5] ) 1634, becomes burgher of Zierikzee 3-2-1588, together with his little sons Jacob and Jan, tailor (1588), becomes a member of the reformed church in Zierikzee 25-12-1592, lives in the Potstraat and later on the East side of the Dam, married Brugge about 1589 Catharina Strijmes (Striemeersch), born about 1562, deceased Zierikzee 26-8-1642.
II. NN de Kanter, should be one of the five sons of Philips de Kanter and Catharina Strijmes, that has a son Philip. See below for the possibilities.¥
- Philips de Kanter, baptised Zierikzee 20-11-1633, deceased young or unmarried, son of Jacob de Kanter en Abigaël Pieters (see I. nr. 1). - Philips de Kanter, baptised Zierikzee 5-8-1636, son of Johan de Kanter en Jacomina Verbelle (see I. nr. 2). No further data on this Philips are given in Ref. [7]. - Philips de Kanter, baptised Zierikzee 22-9-1639, son of Philips de Kanter en Helena Jansdr (see I. nr. 4). - Philips de Kanter, baptised Zierikzee 18-10-1638. son of François de Kanter en Janneken Jacobs (see I. nr 7). No further data on this Philips are given in Ref. [8]. - Philips de Kanter, baptised 5-6-1633, deceased Zierikzee 6-6-1692, son of Nicolaas de Kanter en Digna Jacobs (see I. nr. 8), married Zierikzee 26-12-1663 Jannetje Jobs, young daughter of Zierikzee.

married before 1722
Suzanna Cra(a)ne, deceased 1737-1739 (not buried in Wemeldinge), daughter of Mr. Jan Craen, "chirurgijn" of the city of Middelburg.
Mr. Philippus Canter and his wife Suzanna Craane become member of the reformed church Wemeldinge 4-6-1726 with attestation from St. Annaland,[11]
Philip Canter and wife are mentioned in Wemeldinge 1730 as baptization witnesses.[12]
On 12-9-1727 Mr. Philippus Kanter, "chirurgijn" (medical practician) in Wemeldinge, bought a house in Wemeldinge at the west / south - side of the Heerenweg (presently Dorpsstraat). The house was bought at 3-4-1739 by Mr. Jan Craen, "chirurgijn" of the city of Middelburg, grandfather of the two orphans Adriana de Kanter and Johanna de Kanter.
