Calculations of Particle Reactions, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, March-April 2012

This course consists of 10 hours of teaching plus some homework. It is to teach (master) students how to calculate simple tree level reactions with the use of computers. Presentation is mainly on the blackboard and in the form of a number of files that the students can pick up, run and modify. All students are supposed to be equipped with computers during the lectures. The lectures start with the basics of phasespace and phasespace integration by Monte Carlo techniques. At this stage the matrix elements are provided. In the later stages the students learn a bit about FORM and have to calculate their own matrix elements. Of course there are example programs and the work expected of the students is to modify these for the reactions they are to calculate.

During the course there will be more and more links and files.

manual.pdf A super short Linux manual for installing the files.
part1.pdf The introduction. It explains what you need to do to get started.
part2.pdf Overal factors and some simple phase space.
part3.pdf Monte Carlo integration.
kinc.tar.gz Kinematics routines and examples. When unpacking it creates the directory kinc, if it doesn't exist already.
