The buffer number

Stedi has 10 buffers for editing purposes. The eighth character in the status bar tells which buffer you are currently working in. (see the chapter about buffers p. .)

To change buffers, press Alt-# where # is a number from 1 to 0 (0 standing for 10). The last two, buffers 9 and 0, are reserved for yanking (cutting), copying and pasting. Nevertheless, they are treated like the first eight buffers for all other purposes.
