Welcome to the 26th annual Belgian Dutch German graduate school (BND2014) for students in particle physics. The 2014 edition will be held in Rolduc Abbey, a former monastery in Kerkrade, South Limburg, The Netherlands.

Aim of the school

The school is intended primarily for experimental high energy physicists in their first two years of preparing a PhD thesis. The focus of the school alternates every year beween electroweak standard model physics and strong interaction physics. This year is devoted to strong interactions with theoretical lectures on Quantum Field Theory, QCD and physics beyond the standard model. On the experimental side the central stage will be held by heavy ion interactions, low-x physics and cosmology, while on the theoretical side attention will be given to the Higgs, neutrinos and lattice QCD.

Apart from the lectures there will be student sessions where specific projects will be studied.

The 2014 edition of the Belgian Dutch German summer school is hosted by the subfaculty of Subatomic Physics of VU University Amsterdam. This faculty is member of Nikhef, the Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics in Amsterdam.
