Why is there more matter than anti-matter? What pushed the early universe apart so dramatically? On the day of her PhD defense in Leiden Nikhef-theoretical physicist Jorinde van de Vis explains her work on matter formation in the early universe in a new 3-minute PAPERCLIP video. The famous Higgs boson turns out to be a key player not only in giving mass to matter, but possibly it also drove extreme cosmic expansion after the Big Bang.
