Nikhef researcher Maarten de Jong elected as spokesperson KM3NeT

On 29 January 2013, a collaboration for the implementation of the first phase of the KM3NeT Research Infrastructure has been formed. Nikhef researcher Maarten de Jong has been elected as first spokesperson of this newly formed collaboration.

About KM3NeT:

KM3NeT is a future deep-sea research infrastructure hosting a neutrino telescope with a volume of several cubic kilometres, to be constructed in the Mediterranean Sea. The KM3NeT-phase1 collaboration has about 200 members from 40 European institutes. 

About Nikhef’s involvement:

Maarten de Jong is programme leader of the ANTARES/KM3NeT group at Nikhef. Nikhef has been involved intensely in the KM3NeT project since its first design study in 2006.
