Dr. Dorothea Samtleben has been appointed as a new member of the scientific staff (associate professor/tenure track) of the Leiden Institute of Physics (LION). Samtleben is an observational cosmologist who has specialized in the faint polarization patterns in the cosmic microwave background pattern. Recently, she extended her scope by joining the Antares/KM3NeT neutrino telescope team of Nikhef. At LION, Dorothea will bring in a whole new field of experimentation, exciting new possibilities for students and provide an important experimental link for the theoretical cosmology group. Dorothea will keep a strong connection to Nikhef where she will spend part of her work week. Dorothea’s position at LION has been made possible by funds from the "Sectorplan Natuur- en Scheikunde".
