The Province of Limburg is contributing 4 million euros to the upgrade of the ETpathfinder in Maastricht. The provincial government has announced this.

With this expansion, the ETpathfinder will become the permanent European center for the validation and integration of technologies for low-frequency gravitational waves (ET-LFC). The expansion includes two buildings and cleanrooms for full-scale towers, as required for the Einstein Telescope.

The total cost of ET-LFC is estimated at 52 million euros. In April, the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science had already allocated 25 million euros. The provincial contribution is primarily intended for architectural preparations for the expansion in Maastricht.
