Colloquium Tristan du Pree (UCLouvain & FNRS)

3 oktober 2014

Friday 3 October, 11:00h, at Nikhef in H331

Speaker: Tristan du Pree (UCLouvain & FNRS)

Title: "CMS from Z to A"

Abstract:
The highlight of the CMS measurement campaign has been the discovery of a 125 GeV scalar boson, confirming the predictions of the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism. Besides this contribution to the 2013 Nobel Prize, a broad range of other physics studies has been conducted, ranging from precision measurements to searches for exotic processes. Following my research of the H->bb decay, the measurement of the Z+bb process, and a search for H->ZA, I will give an overview of the results of CMS in the last years. In particular, I will focus on the questions to be addressed next year, when the LHC restarts with Run II.
