Passed away: Ronald Blinderman

12 April 2021

On Friday, March 26, our colleague Ronald Blinderman passed away. Nikhef Director Prof. Stan Bentvelsen shared this sad news with all employees in the lab.

Ronald Blinderman worked at Nikhef in the Computer Technology department at the helpdesk since 2017. There, Ronald helped countless people from the institute with their ICT questions and problems. He did so in his characteristic friendly and open way, always up for a personal chat, which made him very quickly known and loved within the institute.

For his direct colleagues Ronald was a very pleasant person to work with. He liked to visit others to discuss work, of course in his involved and personal way, not losing sight of the goal and making sure the work was done.

In addition to his work for the CT helpdesk, Ronald photographed events for the Communications Department and helped with the creation of graphic material. His photos of many colleagues for the online telephone directory should not go unmentioned; the informal but powerful style of those photos are not only very recognizable, but will form a tangible memory of Ronald for a long time to come.

Ronald had been ill for some time, but remained involved and interested in the course of events at Nikhef. He passed away, eventually much sooner than expected, in the presence of his two daughters and wife. Ronald Blinderman will be greatly missed within Nikhef.
