After a number of high-profile claims that, on reflection, did not hold up, the Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant questions whether physics is doing well. After all, it is becoming increasingly specialized and difficult to control. Nikhef researcher Ivo van Vulpen, among others, commented. Actually it’s not too bad, he thinks. “The system squeaks and creaks sometimes, but it works.”
