Guiding Principles for the National Institute for Subatomic Physics.
Nikhef conducts fundamental scientific research into the elementary building blocks of matter, the forces between them, and the structure of space and time. In doing so, Nikhef strives for scientific and technical excellence. The institute and its researchers aim to make a difference in international research in the field of particle and astroparticle physics, both in experiments and through theory and technological innovation.
A significant portion of Nikhef’s efforts consists of upgrading and utilizing current experiments and setting up future experiments. Nikhef’s three technical departments in the fields of mechanics, electronics, and computer technology are essential to achieving this.
Nikhef’s mission is expressed in the Nikhef Strategy 2023-2028.
