You do not need an access card to enter the grounds. More information on the Science park can be found here. Please read carefully the agenda information for the meeting (probably the page that sent you here); registration may be required for the meeting, as access cards are required for some of the Science Park buildings, and these need to be requested beforehand.
Mention the special Nikhef rate when booking. If you have any questions, please contact Eveline Schram-Post at [p39@nikhef.nl].
Consult your favorite routeplanner. Until June 2010, please note that the Kruislaan Tunnel is closed to cars; this means that you must approach the Science Park from the Carolina MacGillavrylaan, which can be accessed from the Molukkenstraat. Here is an example route from the A1 highway, via the A10 ring and avoiding the Kruislaan Tunnel.
Here is the google routeplanner with the proper destination already filled in ... click on "view larger map" at the bottom, it will take you to a form with the proper destination already filled in, and you can enter your own starting point location!
Take the train from the airport to Centraal Station. Once at the Centraal station get a 'Sprinter Train' to Amsterdam Science Park. There are many trains from the airport. From Centraal station there is a train at 18 and 48 mins past the hour (normally platform 13b - but check) and the journey takes 8 mins to the stop (Science Park) followed by a short minute walk under the bridge to the Science Park entrance. At the automatic ticket machines at the airport select the 'other station' button and type the first two letters for Amsterdam ('A' and 'M' will do) which will bring up a short list of stations including the 'Science Park'. It's euro 4.10 one way.
A more adventurous way (more changes) is to take the train from the airport railway station to the station Amsterdam Zuid WTC. You buy a train ticket for that part, selecting the Zuid WTC station from the list at the ticket machine (see above). For the rest of the trip you will need a "strippenkaart" (public transport ticket). From Amsterdam Zuid WTC take metro 51 (direction Centraal Station) and get out at Amstel Railway Station. From Amstel Station take the city bus number 40 in the direction Muiderpoort Station. Get off at the gate at Sciencepark 105.
Take the citybus number 40 in the direction Amstel Station. Get off at the gate at Sciencepark 105.
Take any metro line to the Amstel Railway Station and take bus 40. Or, take tram 9, get out at the stop Kruislaan and take bus 40 or walk about 15 minutes.
The taxi ride is appoximately 45 euros for a 20 minute ride. Make sure you only take taxis from the official taxi stands.
