At NIKHEF a new dc-dc converter has been developed, which can be used
in a magnetic field.
The Zero Iron Power Supply (ZIPS) uses no ferrite or iron cores.
See for more details the preliminary ZIPS document ZIPS.pdf
Question: What happens with the output voltage if the external magnetic field is turned off ?
Answer: Suppose the field drops from 1 T to 0 in one second. This gives a flux change of 1T/s.
The induced voltage is

For the ZIPS converter the secondary area
.
With a flux change of 1T/s this gives a voltage of
.
Conclusion: the induced voltage can be neglected in the case of a magnet quench.
