Nationaal instituut voor subatomaire fysica

General Information:

A good impression of CP-violation can be obtained from Gerhard Raven's presentation at the VU in 2003: CP-violation: the difference between matter and antimatter. A video lecture about CP-violation has been given by A. Hoecker at Fermilab in 2005, while he has given also video lectures at CERN for the Summer Student Lectures Program in 2007 and in 2008. In 2009 Gerhard Raven presented the "CP-violation" lectures. See how the naming of "Penguin diagrams" by John Ellis is connected to gardening.

The "public" LHCb homepage provides general information about LHCb and about its developments. An  LHCb introduction by Tim Gershon has appeared in physicsworld.com in 2008. The LHCb pages in the Nikhef Self_Evaluation and Strategy reports as produced for the evaluation of the institute in 2007, provide valuable information as well. A few photo's are shown in this gallery, more can be found on the CERN website.

Group Meeting(s):

In June 2009 almost all group members attended a workshop at hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond (see photo's). The emphasis of the program was on working with analysis software (see gaudi-python and bender tutorials). Moreover, general items were discussed.

In June 2010 a workshop was held at Erve Hulsbeek (see photo's), with the position of the group as leading element in the discussions.

In July 2011 the LHCb group convened in Hotel Vue des Montagnes in Berg & Terblijt (see photo's). The focus of the meeting was on theses produced during the time of preparation for the experiment; to see in hindsight what to learn from those theses and what to conclude for the experiment now running.

Open Dag 2003:

Posters were also made for the Open Dag 2005, some specifically for the Outer Tracker and for the FOM meeting at Veldhoven in 2009.
