Gossip (Gas On Slimmed SIlicon Pixels)

A GridPix detector with a 1 mm driftgap and a 100 mHz clock. Gossip can be flushed with several gases. The choice of the gas and the quencher is made by looking at several gas properties: the drift velocity, the diffusion and the amount of ionizations.  Gossip detectors might be used for the ATLAS upgrade. Possible areas where it can be applied are the Pixel vertex tracker, the B-layer and the silicon strip tracker. Development of Gossip detectors are focused on simulations on detector performance, discharge studies, aging studies, production techniques and experiments on detector performance. Simulations show a spatial resolution of about 12 micron and an angular resolutions of a few degrees for straight minimum ionising particle tracks in a with CO2 DME flushed Gossip.
