MUFFIN - What's that?

MUFFIN is the acronym for a program package that has been developed for the ZEUS experiment at the HERA accelerator at DESY in Hamburg, Germany. The purpose of this program is to find muons that traversed the detector. Et voila: the name "MUon FINder" [Umpf.. ok.. one "F" is missing...].. It tries to make full use of all detector components and is specialised on finding cosmic or beam halo muons that overlap with other events.

MUFFIN consists of three packages:

  1. MUFFINCUP: this is a wrapper around the rest and allows a very easy use of the muon finder inside an EAZE job.
  2. MUFFIN: this is the muon finder. It contains all the higher level algorithms and calls CONDENSOR for execution of lower level stuff.
  3. CONDENSOR: a condensate finder that has many many additional features. It also contains routines to make VRML files, a package to exchange data between routines, and a package to conveniently handle steering cards.
