OT LV Distribution
Power Supply
The low-voltage bias to
Front-End Electronics and to the
Control Box
is supplied by the
Wiener
MARATON (MAgnetism and RAdiation TOlerant New)
low voltage power supply system,
schematically illustrated in the
figure below .
The system consists of the following components:
-
The
Maraton power box itself, a low-voltage floating power supply in
the form of a 3U high box with 12 independent channels of 300W each.
Each output has adjustable voltage, current limit and OVP-trip levels.
All power boxes are water cooled.
-
Each Power Box has a 385V DC input, connected to a "Primary Rectifier -
Power Factor Correction" (PFC) Module.
-
Each Power Box has two Control inputs, connected to two "Remote Control
Modules" (RCM).
For the OT, 6 (six) Maraton Power Boxes are used, located in the LHCb
cavern under the bunker, 3 in racks XXX (A side) and 3 in rack XXX (C side).
Each Power Box supplies one half-station, i.e. two
C-Frames:
-
output channels 0-5 -> C-Frame XU
-
output channels 6-11 -> C-Frame VX
Cables are connected at the back of the Power Boxes through a Power Bin
by means of crimping terminals.
The 6 Power Boxes are supplied 385V by 6 PFCs, located in a Primary
Rectifier Bin in rack XXX in YYY.
The 6 Power Boxes are controlled by 12 RCMs, located in a 6U VME crate
in rack XXX in YYY (on top of the Primary Rectifier Bin).
In practice, each RCM has its own IP address and
controls the 6 LV outputs corresponding to one C-Frame:
