Summary guide for preparing the cylinder test-box for cooldown.
-
Clear the area of ladders etc.
-
Check:
-
All cables etc. are plugged in
-
Lights inside the box are off
-
Open inlet and exhaust cooling valves for each quadrant
-
Open exhaust valve on the heat-exchanger
-
Usually leave the Heat exchanger inlet (needle) valve as is
-
Remove the floor extensions. (For the one by the window, move it sideways towards the
window and leave it there, it is very hard to move it right out of the way).
-
Remove the handle from the disc insertion gear box.
-
Remove the LCD screens (lift the whole frame upwards).
-
Remove both Taylor-Hobsons. (Hold securely in one hand and loosen the knurled nut on the
cylinder side of the base plate).
-
Remove both "Spectacles" holding the targets for the Taylor-Hobsons.
-
Move all clasps, cables etc. out of the way.

Put the front panel on (disc insertion end). Position it flush with the vertical Bosch profiles;
do up the top clasps then the floor clamps.

Put on the window-side panel, by lifting it over the floor extension.
Do up the end clasps, then top clasps, then floor clamps.
-
Put on the lower side panel of the non-window side. Do up the clasps at both ends.
-
Tape the clasps upwards on the upper side panel, and put it on; do up the end clasps;
then the top clasps; then do the floor clamps of the lower panel; then the clasps
along the join between the two panels. Apply short lengths of insulating tape at the end of the
join between the two panels.
-
Put in the octagonal panel at the rear end, tighten the clamps, and apply insulating tape to
further seal.
-
Put in the 8 triangular windows at the rear end, tighten their clamps, and apply insulating tape
as needed to further seal.
Opening Up
-
Check the environmental temperature sensors read above 15 deg C, to be sure there will not be
any condensation.
-
Tape up the clasps on the split side panel; remove insulating tape.
-
Remove whatever panels you need to remove for access.
