LMT Tests at NIKHEF

Most LMT's have been tested and assembled into trays by Freiburg. But some -- in particular, any replacement tapes for failed LMT's found during assembly -- will come directly to NIKHEF, and will need testing before use.
  1. Visual inspection: Check integrity. Check SAMTEC connector soldering on PPF0.
  2. Length: Compare to the original faulty tape. If different, check using the Freiburg spread-sheet that the new one will still be in spec.
  3. HV: Check for a resistance of at least 10 GOhm, with the HV line at 500 V and all other lines grounded.
  4. Snake test: check for shorts and continuity with the snake test. Nominal R = 10.5 kOhm.
  5. Add kapton tape to PPF0 to protect HV line and resistor from shorting to the guide plate.
  6. Send results to Freiburg for addition to their spread-sheet.
