Lambda Wheel Cooling System

Cooling control unit

The cooling control units is located in the ER, rack E3-03. It is the top crate which contains a blank, a power supply unit for 5V and ±5-15V, another blank and three control units. The following table describes the connections made to these latter three modules.

UnitConnectorFunction
controller-Aconnector 1all power supplies (statrons) DAC output control lines (except for heater element)
connector 2DAC output control line for heater
connector 3alarms control register
connector 4analog control signals for electronics inside magnet area
controller-Bwide flatcablecurrently not in use
narrow flatcableRS232 interface to main computer read-out system
LEMO (top)signals from alcohol level meter and motor sensor
LEMO (bottom)interlock system connector
controller-Cwide flatcablefeedthrough for statron control signals from left panel
Lemo-1stratron control line 1 (plugged directly into stratron)
Lemo-2stratron control line 2
Lemo-3stratron control line 3
Lemo-4stratron control line 4
Lemo-5stratron control line 5

Status statron powersupplies

This paragraph contains some example data on the cooling powersupplies. The values are taken with the system at a stabilization temperature of 5 °C.

Interlock low voltage power Lambda Wheels

The interlock is a normally closed switch. The powersupply cannot be operated when this switch opens. The switch opens when

The interlock-cable is a light grey 2-pole LEMO cable connected to controller-B LEMO (bottom). The cable is labelled (about 1 m from the LEMO connector) with tape saying 'LW-cooling Interlock white=+'.
