Locations videoconferencing rooms at Nikhef

• Room H135 hostname: video04.nikhef.nl, IP: 192.16.192.8, PolyCom type: HDX7000
• Room H331 hostname: video02.nikhef.nl, IP: 192.16.192.71, PolyCom type: HDX7000
• Room N328 hostname: video03.nikhef.nl, IP: 192.16.192.68, PolyCom type: HDX7000

All three rooms have PolyCom videoconferencing devices, all of them have a high-definition quality (HD).

Make your room reservation at the reception desk.

SURFnet virtual rooms

We have a permanent reservation for a virtual room at SURFnet, name: Nikhef

Switch on the Polycom:

• From the Polycom directory (favorites) select A Nikhef Surfnet room
• Type #, then enter the conference number 50602, followed by a #
• Your conference will start.

Alternatively, you can connect anywhere in the world to the Nikhef SURFnet virtual room:

• H323 client (e.g. Polycom): connect with IP address 212.123.231.143 (mcu3.talkandvision.net), Type #, then enter the conference number 50602, followed by a #
• H323 client: dial 0800150602@hdmcu2.surfnet.nl (or 0031800150602@hdmcu2.surfnet.nl) to connect directly
• SIP client: dial 50602@mcu3.talkandvision.net
• Regular phone: dial +31 (0)20 716 5293, choose 4 and then give the virtual room number 50602, confirming with #.

Big Grid has a permanent reservation for a virtual room at SURFnet as well. In case the Nikhef room is already booked by someone else, Big Grid can be used as an alternative. Just replace 50602 with 50603 everywhere.

In case both permanent virtual rooms are already booked, you can contact the CT helpdesk to book an extra virtual room exclusively for your meeting.

EVO

In case you want to use EVO from your laptop and a PolyCom device, perform the following steps:

Do NOT turn off the gatekeeper on the polycom, otherwise it won't work!
Connect with your laptop to EVO and enter the meeting.
Choose Call > H.323
Fill in a display name.
Fill in H.323 address field the IP address of the PolyCom device use want to use.
It will call the PolyCom and get connected.

EVO:     like ESnet (?)
