Transport (horizontal and vertical)
Introduction
There are two types of transport, vertical and horizontal. Under the heading of horizontal transport comes the transport of goods using a forklift truck and a stacker. The Nikhef company van when used regularly for professional use can also be considered as horizontal transport. Hoisting of goods by cranes is to be considered as vertical transport. On the Nikhef site forklifts, stackers and company busses /vans are used for horizontal transport. The cranes in the void, the mechanical department hall and the accelerator buildings are used for vertical transport.
There are a number of guidelines for every method of transport that should be followed and applied at Nikhef.
Policy on working with horizontal and vertical transport
The policy is re-evaluated yearly and is to be found in the chapter under the section ‘verticaal en horizontaal transport’.
Procedures
In the procedures (procedure is in Dutch) it is schematically described how the servicing and testing are regulated and also at what intervals refresher courses should be carried out. The tests are performed by the THD. The SVM department is responsible for information and instruction.
