Some remarks about cabling and patchbox connections for data links (AOut,ADummy) and sc connections (status May 1 1999, updated Jul 8 and Aug 25/26 1999) - Per ladder/wheel a Combo Cable is made, including the data link cables and the hybrid ntc cables (coordination in hands of R.C.) Specification Data Link Cable: Habia UBT 3601 ST2; STP ; 36 AWG; 150 ohm/100m; 100 VDC; SPC; 0.39mm O.D. - All non-sc cables have to be of equal length (to be measured). Differences in length should be equalised within the detector volume or before the patch box. - The end flange of the MVD should have a cable slots for easy installation of the cables with connectors attached (drawing available). A 'Quick Tube Alu' cable mantle is used for the cable bundles. - The data link connections at the Patch Box side should be positioned separately from LV,HV,SC,Digital; e.g. in case of a common PCB per module in the patchbox one could introduce noise on the data link. - at the vetowall site of the patchbox the connection for the data link is: standard RJ-45 connector (4 signal (AOut plus ADummy) output) on 4-pair CAT5+ cable: Type 51H8169; 7.9mm O.D. - at the detector site the following solution for the data link is favoured now: * 5 stp-cables for a barrel ladder (or 4 for a wheel) are stripped and soldered to a D-connector (drawing available); * at the other side of the Patch Box a connection is made to a RJ-45 connector * on the pcb impedances should be matched At the detector side : 30 barrel plus 14 wheel = 44 connectors At the veto wall side: 38 barrel plus 14 wheel = 52 connectors - assumed is that the sc-cables on the hybrids (one temperature sensor per ladder and two per wheel) are part of the combo cable. Connectors under study: specification will be given shortly. Laid separately and not included in the module bundles sofar: sensors on 3 ladders and 2 wheels: one sensor per Si-detector module (see also http://www-zeus.desy.de/~wiggers/slow_plan.html). But .. can they be included in the Combo Cable as well (R.C).)? Also to be included: some (3) interlock temperature sensors. To be connected similarly as the other sc sensors. They should be spread over the sc-cables, to avoid simultaneous breakdown. The sc connector type at the detector site of patch box for the detector ntc's and interlock sensors is: Solder Bucket (ITT Cannon) 37 Ways Plugs (Farnell order code 616-965) At the vetowall site of the patch box: Flat cable connector (3M) 37 Ways sockets (Farnell order code 469-440) - since the ground of STP is difficult to connect, we could use UTP for the sc cables instead of STP in the detector as foreseen before. From Patch Box to the vetowall area flat cable in round format (37 ways, diameter 11...12 mm) will be used. - Agreed is that the interlock cables go via the Cooling Rack to the interlock system. - The outer side must be floating from the construction, but connected to the combo cable shielding. The construction inside is to mount the cables and pcb's that connect the cables. All signals (gnd is defined as a signal) must pass the patchbox without any connection. The pcb's are isolated from the box. Update Thu Jul 8 1999 Update Wed Aug 25 1999
