The installation nowadays is planned to be within the shutdown of 1999-2000. Unclear is, whether a part of the detector should not already been placed in the ZEUS setup earlier for:
Moreover, it could be that for beamtests at CERN in the years before installation electronics has to be available. To be seen is, whether the final electronics can be made available at that time. The above considerations have important effect on the planning of the electronics.
Since within 2 years the electronics has to be ready, no major development program can be undertaken. Only minor adaptations to chip design can be done (a submit of a chip takes 0.5-1 year). Also the rest of the readout has, if possible, to be taken over.
